Fellowships information

How to apply for the fellowship

Fellowships are aimed at PhD students in their first or second year, i.e., those who started their doctoral thesis after 1 January 2025. Applications from students at a later stage are also welcome and will be considered if funds remain. In exceptional cases, a fellowship may be awarded to a master’s student.

Deadline

29 January 2027 — for both steps below. Applications missing either step cannot be considered, and requests received after this date cannot be accepted.

Step 1 — What you do (in the registration form)

When registering, tick “I apply for a fellowship” and complete the following fields:

  1. Month and year in which you started your doctoral thesis.
  2. Topic/working title of your doctoral thesis.
  3. Name, institution, and email address of your thesis advisor.

Step 2 — What your thesis advisor does (by email)

Ask your thesis advisor to email info@capri-school.eu by 29 January 2027 from their institutional email address.

  • Subject line (exactly): Fellowship – SURNAME, First name
  • Length: half a page is sufficient.
  • Content: the letter must address both of the following points.
    1. Why participation in the Capri Spring School 2027 is important for the candidate’s training and research.
    2. Why the home institution cannot cover the full registration fee.

It is your responsibility to ensure your advisor sends it before the deadline.

Decision and next steps

All applicants are informed of the outcome by 19 February 2027. If you are not awarded the fellowship, you will need to confirm whether you wish to proceed with your participation.
