What applying for a fellowship involves

Who is eligible. Fellowships are meant for PhD students in their first or second year, that is, those who started their doctoral work after 1 January 2025. Later-stage candidates are considered only if funds remain; master's students in exceptional cases.

There are two steps, and this form is only the first.

  1. This registration. Tick “Yes” above — that is all we need from you here.
  2. A letter from your thesis advisor. Your advisor must send an email to info@capri-school.eu from their institutional address, using exactly this subject line:
    Fellowship – SURNAME, First name
    The letter should be about half a page and must address both:
    1. why attending the school benefits your academic development;
    2. why your home institution cannot cover the full registration fee.

Both steps must be complete by 29 January 2027. Incomplete or late applications cannot be considered. All applicants are notified by 19 February 2027; if you are not funded you may pay the full fee or withdraw without penalty.

We will repeat these instructions in your confirmation email, with the subject line already filled in — forward that email to your advisor. Full fellowship information.
